University of Westminster's Hydroponic Green Wall: in partnership with Square Mile Farms
The Sustainability Team at the University of Westminster has established a fund with CETI to help students and staff work together to create sustainable projects that help to address SDGs and promote environmental leadership. As a successful applicant of the Green Fund, the Westminster Hydro Green Wall Team is working with Square Mile Farms to build a hydroponic wall for Westminster's campus. The project aims to promote awareness and understanding of environmental efforts while also bringing improved mental and physical wellbeing for the campus. We hope the project can help inform future efforts for the effectiveness of hydroponic and vertical wall systems within academic buildings, expanding also into building performance, air purification, and health benefits. Monthly harvesting events will occur to bring together the whole of the Westminster community to promote and educate on the idea of vertical farming to increase accessibility of fresh produce in urban areas.

Team members: Stefania Boccaletti, Mehrdad Borna, Carine Berger Woiezechoski, Anna Prideaux, Sharon McCarthy, Grace Lancto
Installation of the wall on May 25, 2022.
