The Tipping Point
The Climate Change Hub
This project focused on a temporary pavilion located in Paddington Street Gardens in central London. The pavilion was designed for a brief that focused on "climate change hubs" which function to educate and promote awareness towards the general public as a beacon/billboard for Climate Change issues. Children were the primary user group of this space, making the design focus interaction and play as well as educational.
I aimed to create an interactive experience that exposes children to the different elements -sun, wind, and water- and show them that we have the ability to use natural and passive techniques to achieve a desired climate and environment.
As the seasons change, these experiences will be altered and interacting with wind or sunlight might be more significant to the user depending on the level of interior human comfort that the children wish to achieve.
